“When people ask where you’re from and you say Syria, their eyes widen,” Bushra Hamid ’20 says.
“It is my country—I should be sentimental, and I should be relating to them, but at the same time, how is that helping anyone?” says Leen Al-Kassab ’18. “That’s not going to change the fact that I have a midterm tomorrow. That’s not going to change the fact that I have a pset due at midnight that has to be turned in.”
Harvard hosted the annual IvyQ conference this weekend from Thursday through Saturday. IvyQ organizers planned speakers, workshops, and socials to explore aspects of the queer community.
