Across the Pond
Seniors Marek Zaleski and Andrew Mollerus have taken different sailing paths, but they now share the same ambition: to sail professionally and make the Olympics. In both cases, they are aided by families that boast serious experience with the sport and push Zaleski and Mollerus to competitive excellence.

After an up-and-down fall season, the Crimson improved its performance in the spring. The young team, which fielded only two seniors, looked toward a number of inexperienced sailors to skipper and did not repeat last year’s success at the national level.

Wafer Flavors
A diagram of different Necco wafer products and their flavors is posted on the second floor of the factory building where the wafers are baked and sorted. The original wafer flavors range from "Clove" to "Wintergreen" and newer flavors include "Green apple" and "Strawberry."
Sweethearts Get Their Text
A roll of banana-flavored wafer dough is rolled through a series of rollers that prints the typical "Sweethearts" phrases on the dough and stamps the dough into heart-shaped pieces befoer they are separated and baked.
Full of Sweethearts
A six foot tall hopper filled with the brighter, tangier, and newer flavors of freshly baked "Sweethearts," waits to be tipped into an even taller bag-like container used for storage.
Skybars
At one conveyor a roll of plastic is intricately wrapped around Skybars, chocolate bars with four compartments of fillings: vanilla cream, caramel, peanut butter, and chocolate.
Dot Candies
The "dot candy" machine at Necco's factory quickly doses out droplets of a soupy sugar dough on rolls of paper and then quickly cuts the paper into manageable pieces.
Old-Fashioned Technique
A Necco employee paints red-colored liquid sugar onto an offset roller at one of the factory's "Sweethearts" machines every few minutes with a bristle brush.
