The Harvard men’s hockey team (2-2-0, 2-2-0 ECAC) was unable to keep its winning streak rolling from last weekend, falling in the first of its two-game homestand to Colgate (5-5-1, 2-1-0 ECAC) by a decisive score of 4-2. Despite taking the ice with an aggressive mindset that saw it control the puck in the early stages of the game, the Crimson was unable to string together three periods of successful hockey.

The Harvard men’s hockey team (6-10-6) fell to Cornell (12-6-4) 4-3 in the first game of the best-of-three ECAC Tournament quarterfinal matchup. The Crimson, seeded eighth in the playoff bracket, was unsuccessful in carrying over its momentum from its conference win against Princeton last weekend. Head Coach Ted Donato will look to rally his bench for a comeback performance against the Big Red Bears tomorrow night.

Closing out regular season play, the Harvard Crimson (6-17-6, 6-10-6 ECAC) defeated the Yale Bulldogs (10-17-2, 7-13-2 ECAC) 2-1 in OT, and lost to Brown (8-18-3, 6-14-2 ECAC) in an OT shootout. Holding Brown scoreless after a back-and-forth overtime period secured the Crimson a home-rink advantage in its ECAC playoff game against No. 9 ECAC-ranked Princeton on Friday.

The Crimson (5-16-4, 5-10-5 ECAC) posted mixed results this weekend against Union College and RPI, falling 6-2 to the Garnet Chargers and besting the Chargers 3-2 in an exciting shootout win to end the weekend victorious.

At a now-or-never point in the season, Harvard men’s ice hockey (5-16-4, 5-9-4 ECAC) must strive for near-perfect play. It came close to perfection this past weekend, notching a one-goal win over St. Lawrence but falling to Clarkson by the same margin. Except for a blowout loss to No. 1-ranked Boston College in the consolation round of the Beanpot last week, Harvard has kept it close against ranked teams over the past month.

The Harvard men’s ice hockey team lost 5-0 to the No. 1 Boston College Eagles (20-5-1, 13-3-1 HE) in the consolation round of the 71st Beanpot Tournament held at TD Garden. After falling short to the reigning champions, Northeastern, in a 3-2 overtime nailbiter, the Crimson was overpowered by the Eagles in Monday’s matinee, a game that at times looked uncompetitive.

Harvard Looks Past Loss Against Quinnipiac, Prepares for 71st Annual Beanpot
Harvard men’s ice hockey (4-13-3, 4-8-3 Ivy) lost 2-1 against one of its most difficult opponents of the season, No. 1 ECAC and No. 7 NCAA-ranked Quinnipiac, on Friday. The loss marked its second to the Bobcats this season, with the first coming from a decisive 6-0 shutout at Bright-Landry.
Harvard Closes Out the First Half of the Season with Up-and-Down Weekend
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Harvard women’s ice hockey played three games, but was unable to come out of the weekend with any points. In its first game, the Crimson took a trip up to Durham, N.H., where it faced the New Hampshire Wildcats (7-7-1). With Harvard unable to find the back of the net, the Wildcats pulled away with a 3-0 win, having scored a goal in each period. The Wildcats’ Brooke Hammer had an impressive performance, putting up three points with two goals and an assist.
Harvard Still Searching for an Identity After Tough Losses Over the Weekend
Before the season, Harvard men’s ice hockey head coach Ted Donato said that it would take time for the Crimson to establish an identity, especially on offense, with so many of its players experiencing college hockey for the first time. Three games into the season, the team is still looking for that identity, as well as its first victory, after a shootout loss to the Princeton Tigers and a blowout loss to the Quinnipiac Bobcats, the defending national champions.
