In Tallahassee, Fla., the Harvard men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the NCAA Nationals for the second season in a row, with both teams improving on their 2019 finishes. When the dust cleared, the men finished in 12th and the women in 25th.

Coming off fantastic team performances at the Ivy League Championships two weeks ago, the Harvard men and women’s cross country teams both qualified for NCAA nationals, with the women winning regionals for the second season in a row dating back to 2019 and the men placing second in a field of over 35 teams.

Women’s Cross Country Wins Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, Men Place Second Ahead of Regionals

At Princeton’s home course in New Jersey, the Harvard women’s cross country team dominated its way to winning the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship for the first time since 2016. Two top-five finishers and five top-twelve finishers provided the Crimson women with the scoring depth necessary to capture the title. The Harvard men finished just behind Princeton in second, led by an exceptional performance by senior Matthew Pereira, who became the first Harvard individual champion since Kieran Tuntivate ’20 in 2018.

Harvard Cross Country with a Pair of Strong Finishes at Nuttycombe Invitational

On Friday, October 15th, Harvard men’s and women’s cross county traveled north to race in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational against 31 and 35 other highly-competitive collegiate programs. The Crimson men finished an impressive 13th and the women finished in 25th, both substantially improving from their performance in the same race in 2019.

Men’s Cross Country Takes First, Women Place Second in HYP Showdown

On Saturday, Sept. 11, Harvard cross country took on Ivy League rivals Princeton and Yale at the Tigers’ home course in New Jersey. Amidst steep competition, the Crimson men placed first in their 8k race, edging Princeton by one point, with the women placing second, falling just short of the Tigers in their 4.8k race.

Men's and Women's Track and Field Put Up Performances for the Record Books in Two Different Meets

This past weekend, Harvard Track and Field split their efforts, with part of the team competing in the Valentine Invitational at nearby Boston University and part of the team competing at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina. Crimson records were tested and broken on the long weekend, as a pair of Havard runners from both the men’s and women’s sides had incredible performances in the mile.
