Success Runs in Family for Junior Co-Captain

“We always have to drag game details out of her,” Sarah said. “We ask how she did, and she sometimes claims she doesn’t even remember—she just remembers winning.”

“She’ll tell you if her team won or lost and how they played as a whole,” Katherine adds in an email. “But if you ask her how many goals she scored, she honestly doesn’t know.”

Kennifer’s success in life has by no means been limited to the pool.

“We shared a room growing up,” Katherine recalls. “And I remember she would be asleep within 10 seconds of her head hitting the pillow because she had been literally running around all day.  She still does 15 things before I even wake up.”

Here at Harvard, the premed neurobiology concentrator is going after an astrophysics secondary and a Spanish citation. Aside from her ambitious academic course load, she is also co-chair of the Eliot House House Committee, along with her roommate Victoria Migdal.

“She really wants to do what’s best for the house and the community,” Migdal says. “She interacts with everyone and the house ... She’s a great person to be around; she exudes a lot of energy ... and it’s infectious if you’re around her.”

“Ever since I can remember, she has been very comfortable in her own skin, projecting a great sense of humor that makes people flock to her,” Katherine agrees.

And even with all this, Devan seems to be ready to take on even more.

“I love Harvard so much, the optimal thing for me would be for me to graduate next year into the freshman class and do it all over,” she says. “Just because there’s so much to do.”
