Goldman Sachs Awards Sophomore

Lisa Schwartz `03 has been selected by The Goldman Sachs Foundation as one of 20 "Goldman Sachs Global Leaders," the Foundation announced Monday.

The program, in its first year, recognizes second-year students with outstanding academic and leadership achievements.

Schwartz was chosen from among 400 students nominated by 54 colleges across the country and around the world.

"I was really honored to be chosen for the first year that the program was administered," said Schwartz.

Schwartz, who sits on the executive board of the Phillips Brooks House Association's Small Claims Advisory Service, organized a Youth and Politics festival last fall for the Institute of Politics aimed at drawing students into political activism.

She has also spent her last four summers in Washington, working last year with the Department of Justice, and the previous three summers for senator Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.)

Recipients of the award receive $2,000 as well as recognition at a public ceremony held in New York last week.

"It was really exciting to get to interact with all these talented and interesting students from around the country," Schwartz said.
