By 10:15 p.m., satellite trucks from Boston television affiliates had arrived, and began setting up to broadcast live for the 11 p.m. news.
PSLM members said last night's rally was symbolic of the growing "alliance" between students and union workers.
"Our demands are very similar and we've been mutually supportive," said Aaron D. Bartley, a third-year law student inside Mass. Hall.
"We got an enormous boost in terms of numbers but also power and organization. It's clear both sides' struggles are intertwined," Bartley said.
