PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Tailback Bryan Keys ran for 126 yards on 28 carries and scored the game's only touchdown as Pennsylvania scored a 10-0 victory over Brown Saturday.
Penn (4-0) gained sole possession of the Ivy League lead with its third conference victory, combined with Columbia's 16-13 upset victory over Princeton. Brown slipped to 0-3-1 and 0-2-1 in the Ivy League.
Keys, who has rushed for over 100 yards in each game this year for the Quakers, scored on a five-yd. run at 12:50 of the second quarter in a cold rain.
Penn's only other score came on 41-yard field goal by Rich Friedenberg two minutes earlier.
Brown moved the ball inside the Quaker 10-yd. line three times, but failed to score. The Bruins twice failed to convert on fourth-down attempts, and a 35-yd. field goal attempt failed because of a bad snap from center.
Brown also had a touchdown called back on a holding call after Danny Clark threw a 6-yard strike to tight end Steve Harrison.
Jim Beato rushed for 62 for the Quakers, who outgained the Bruins 239-155 on the ground. Dan Clark ran for 65 yards and Nick Badalato had 63 for Brown. Each team lost the ball once on fumbles, and Penn's defense intercepted two Brown passes.
Holy Cross 17, Dartmouth 3
WORCESTER, Mass.--Holy Cross fullback Joe Segreti plowed his way to 159 yards on 32 carries Saturday and Crusader defensive back Julio Fernandez scored a touchdown with an interception as Holy Cross defeated Dartmouth, 17-3.
The Crusaders improved their record to 4-2 and Dartmouth fell to 1-3 in a game played in 38-degree temperatures with a wind gusting to 22 m.p.h. The victory for Holy Cross was its eight straight over an Ivy League foe.
The Crusaders struck first when safety Darrin Darrington deflected a Mark Johnson aerial and Fernandez intercepted, running 11 yards for the touchdown.
Dartmouth quarterback Johnson led the Big Green to its only scoring drive of the day, a 10-play drive which resulted in a 24-yard field goal by kicker Carl Romero. The score stood 7-3 at the half.
In the third quarter, Crusader middle guard Gerry Trietley recovered his second fumble of the day on the Dartmouth 37 to set up the second Holy Cross touchdown. The tally set up a key 13-yard completion from quarterback Jeff Wiley to flanker Viv Washington.
Segreti swept right in for the 14-3 Holy Cross advantage.
Segreti was pivotal as Holy Cross controlled the ball in the fourth quarter.
