Base Ball.

Harvard, 8; Williams, 2.

Harvard showed considerable improvement in yesterday's game with Williams, over the work of the other games this week. Especially noticeable was the improvement in base running. To be sure, the catcher for Williams was not much of a thrower, but the men started much more quickly than ever before.

For Harvard, the battery was Highlands and Upton; for Williams, J. Hollister and Draper. Highlands struck out thirteen men, gave only two bases on balls, and two base hits. Upton threw better to second, but dropped two third strikes. Hollister pitched a strong game up to the ninth innings, giving only two base hits. In the ninth he began by giving Cook his base on balls, struck out Upton, and gave Highlands and Hovey bases on balls. Hallowell, Frothingham and Dickinson all got hits, bringing in for the innings four runs, and doubling the score. Williams got her only two runs on an all-round juggling of the ball. Street got to second on a passed ball of his third strike. Draper got first on a wild throw of his third strike, which also sent Street to third. Ide brought in the two on a hit, but after much fumbling, was thrown out at third. This was the only scoring done by Williams. Harvard's first four runs were made one at a time, in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth. In the fifth Cook got a run by a fine hit to left field, a wild throw for two bases and a hit by Highlands. In the sixth Dickinson got first on a hit, second on a fumble, stole third and came home on a terrible error by second, of Mason's hit. Upton got a run in the seventh by a fumble of his grounder, steal to second, and Highlands' hit. Hallowell made the fourth run in the eighth by a wild throw by Draper, a steal of second and third and Dickinson's hit.

The score was as follows:

HARVARD.

A.B. R. B.H. T.B. S.H. P.O. A. E.
