The senior crew will go on the river today for the first time and from now on exercise in the gymnasium and running will be stopped. In the course of about a week or as soon as the necessary funds can be raised, the men will go to the training table. Weed is with the 'varsity substitutes at present but will probably join the crew later, in time for the class races. Heard was unable to row yesterday, but the make up of the crew as it rowed in the tank was as follows:
Stroke, Hubbard.
7, Stearns
6, Steedman
5, Young.
4, Johnson.
3, Agassiz.
2, Frost.
Bow, Gratwick.
Watriss is acting as coach for the present.
It is early to draw any conclusions from the style in which the men row, still an individual criticism is not out of place.
Hubbard as stroke does not row smoothly. His prevailing fault is a tendency to rush his slide at full reach.
Stearns goes back too far and does not swing well at stroke. He is also weak at the recover.
Steedman also goes back too far, but otherwise rows well.
Young does not use his legs alike. He leans back too far and is very apt to row short.
