Fact and Rumor.

The faculty of Dartmouth College have decided that the students must drop football, baseball, or general athletics on account of the excesslve amount of time and money required to support them all.

In the Yale-Princeton game, Saturday, Mercur was batted out of the box in the first innings and was replaced by King. Ames was unable to hold King, however, and pitched for the rest of the game himself.

A bronze tablet is to be placed in the Capitol at Washington to mark the place where John Quincy Adams fell in his last illness. The tablet will be circular in form and will bear the inscription, "John Q. Adams, February 21, 1848," around the edge, and the word "Here" in the centre.

The earliest book known which bears the date of its publication can be seen at the Royal Library at Windsor. It is a copy of the "Psalterieum" printed by Faust and Schoeffer in 1457. The binding is blue velvet with the royal crown and cypher on the sides in solid gold, and embossed gold cordices and loops.

On May 28, 29 and 30, Cambridge defeated Yorkshire by two runs and four wickets. The score was: Yorkshire, first innings, 172; second innings, 163.- The University, first innings, 164; second innings, I 73 for six wickets. Up to now, Cambridge has done much better work than Oxford, and it is the general opinion that the wearers of the Light Blue will dine next month at Lord's.
