Home Opener Heartbreak: Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Colgate 19-15
Heartbreak plagued the No. 15 Harvard men’s lacrosse team (1-1, 0-0 Ivy) yesterday as it failed to defend Jordan Field against the visiting Colgate Raiders, falling to the Upstate New York team 19-15. Following a close game against the Providence Friars last weekend, the Cambridge program was unable to pull together another second-half performance to secure a win in its 2025 home opener.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 17 Harvard men’s lacrosse team (1-0, 0-0 Ivy) found glory on the road this past Saturday, squeaking past the No. 20 Providence Friars 12-10. Despite coming out to a slow start, Harvard Head Coach Gerry Byrne’s squad was able to level the score at six-apiece at the half before reclaiming the turf and clinching its first victory of the 2025 season.

With Princeton clinching victory over the Yale Bulldogs just before the first whistle, the Harvard men’s lacrosse team’s (8-5, 2-4 Ivy) final win of the season, 11-10, against the Brown Bears proved inconsequential for both programs, with the Ivy League Tournament lineup having already been decided. The four teams that will continue into the postseason are No. 8 Cornell, No. 12 Princeton, No. 13 Yale, and No. 16 UPenn.

After a bit of a midseason slump, the No. 16 Harvard men’s lacrosse team (7-3, 1-2 Ivy) bounced back in a home-field victory against Dartmouth, 13-7. Currently ranked fifth in the Ivy League, the game against the Big Green was a must-win matchup in the squad’s quest for a bid in the postseason tournament.

The No. 12 Harvard men’s lacrosse team (6-1, 0-1 Ivy) succumbed to historic foe No. 10 Yale (4-1, 1-0 Ivy), 17-15, at Reese Stadium yesterday. In a far departure from what is typically the last meeting of the season for the two squads, the Ancient Eight teams found themselves battling for glory in their first league matchups of the 2024 season.
