Happy Wednesday, Harvard! Hopefully those of you who are eligible had a chance to vote in yesterday’s midterms elections! For those of you who haven’t heard the results yet, overall, the night was a big win for Republicans, who maintained majority control in the House of Representatives, won a majority in the Senate, and won a large majority of the governor’s races taking place yesterday.

While elections have been taking up most people’s attention these past few days (at least any attention left over after classes, meetings, and more), there’s been a lot going on everywhere else in the world! Here’s what you may have missed:

  • Kim Jong Un emerged after a six week seclusion to walk without a cane among North Korean troops, according to their state newspaper.
  • Brittany Maynard, a woman with terminal brain cancer who chose to end her own life, has begun a national discussion on right-to-die legislation.
  • Catalonia, the northeastern region of Spain, plans to hold a secession vote this weekend, in direct opposition to rulings from the highest courts in the country, as well as the leadership in the capital, Madrid. Don’t get too inspired, Union dorms.
  • TSwizzle’s new album, 1989, sold 1.287 million copies in its first week of sales. That’s more than last week’s 70 top albums sales combined. Haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate, but Taylor’s gonna make make make make make SO MUCH MONEY.
  • The fugitive Mexican mayor suspected of ordering the kidnapping of 43 college students was found and arrested.
