Happy first day of October! We hope that the first month of the semester went out with a bang (in a good way) and that you’re looking forward to the one ahead. We’re finally feeling the fall spirit, and we’re sure you are too! Five points for every person you see Instagraming the foliage over the past few days. Bonus points if they end up using a black and white filter (seriously, we’ve seen it done).
You may see a number of people on campus wearing yellow or carrying umbrellas today, and maybe you are yourself. This campaign is the work of students around the world to raise awareness and solidarity for protesters in Hong Kong who are fighting for democracy. Read more about the situation in Hong Kong here, here, here, here, and here.
You can learn more about the campaign by visiting their website: wearyellowforhk.tumblr.com. Yesterday, TIME magazine posted an article about the campaign and interviewed Heather L. Pickerell '15, a Crimson editor. The more you know! You stop by the Science Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to pick up a yellow ribbon and to speak to students involved in organizing this campaign.

However, dealing with it all day will probably entitle you to a delicious hot chocolate at some point? Whether it’s Starbucks or HUDS, you’ll have earned it.
