A group of students in Chinese Bb have made a humorous homage to their class and teachers for their final project. The video, titled "Hāfó Huanying Ni (Harvard Welcomes You)," is based on the song "Beijing Welcomes You," which was made for the 2008 Olympics.
The video, made by Sean M. Bennett '14, Samuel S. Brinton '14 and Aticus A. Peterson '14, is entirely in Chinese with Chinese subtitles and discusses their class and its teachers. Even if you don't speak Chinese, you can still appreciate the catchy tune and recognize the numerous Harvard landmarks throughout the video. Those familiar with Chinese propaganda will get a chuckle out of the pseudo-heroic poses made at various points in the song.
The original song is memorable for its inspirational tone and the fact that it was played non-stop in China. It even features the musical stylings of Jackie Chan when the chorus kicks in.
