Summer Postcards
Glory Daze on the Thames
Dublin, Brussels, Ghent, Versailles, Paris, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Köln, London and Henley on Thames. 10 cities. 15 days. This is Western Europe, the abridged version.
Oh Snap, Judgments
A few nights ago, I was involved in coordinating Cheezburger Night at Safeco Field, one of many micro events orchestrated and conducted by the Seattle Mariners.
Under the Golden Arches
By the time we got back to the Florence train station, we were also starving. Looking around for somewhere to eat, we were confronted with a sign pointing towards two familiar golden arches.
Surrounded at Sea
This is nowhere as easy as my friends make it look. They keep pace far ahead with our intrepid guide, a spunky fifty-year-old who leads her tour with exactly the amount of sass you would expect from someone who quit her corporate job to lead kayak tours. They glide across the waves in front of me, chatting pleasantly about whatever outdoorsy types talk about while they wait for lesser humans to catch up.
From the Ice to the Streets
“Hockey is a tough game, and the Bruins won fair and square,” he continued. “Now, we fans don’t only look like sore losers, but the enduring image of Vancouver in 2011 will be that of rioting. It’s embarrassing for the city, and it’s embarrassing for us. We look like savages.”
