Law School Found in Violation of Title IX after Years-Long Probe

As Part of Federal Agreement, Harvard Will Revise Sexual Harassment Policies

In an email to Law School affiliates Tuesday, Minow responded to OCR’s findings, writing that the “University’s current policy and our procedures for handling allegations of sexual misconduct move us in the right direction.” She added that she is confident that the Law School’s most recently adopted procedures, as submitted to the Department of Education for review, “comply with Title IX.”

In a statement published Tuesday, meanwhile, the University recognized it “could and should do more” to address sexual harassment and violence.

University Title IX Officer Mia Karvonides did not respond to requests for comment over email and phone Tuesday afternoon. An automated response from her email account said she would not be checking emails while her office is closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2.

OCR is also currently investigating the College’s compliance with Title IX.
