Vines Offers Alternate Biblical Interpretation of Same-Sex Relationships

“If the average supporter of equality could make thoughtful, sensitive arguments about Leviticus 18 and Romans 1 rather than simply dismiss the Bible altogether, we would see a tremendous shift in the dialogue about marriage equality and other LGBT issues, ” Vines wrote in an email.

Kelly L. McPherson ’12, a planner for the event, said she sees the film as adding to the conversation, though she does not think views will change overnight.

“It strikes at the core of closely held beliefs on both sides,” she said. “I don’t think this event has changed everyone’s minds, but it is important to engage in respectful conversation. I think my views are very much in process. They are being influenced, and I am trying to work them through.”
