Double Trouble

After a stellar rookie campaign on the gridiron, freshman Zach Boden will take his talents to the baseball diamond this spring

After all of this exercise, Boden is in bed somewhere between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. every night.

“He’s very into his health and nutrition, [and] he’s very disciplined,” Mrs. Boden said. “I admire him.... He chooses to feed his body healthy food and fuel himself with good nutrition so he can be the best he can be.”

Boden’s self-discipline extends outside of just his diet. He is meticulous about most facets of his life, ranging from the cleanliness of his room to the way he spends his rare, free moments.

“He has the strongest will,” Morales said. “He literally won’t eat ice cream; he won’t have any soda. He has never had a drop of alcohol in his life. He doesn’t even have coffee or tea. He is religious about his eating and drinking habits. That also translates into his sports—he’ll work out as often as he needs to. He’ll push himself.”

But even an athlete as dedicated as Boden has his weaknesses. Boden’s one vice? Halo 3.

“I can’t play as many video games this semester,” Boden said. “But it’s OK, I can live with it.”
