Curry Leads Men's Basketball Over Yale, 66-51, in Important Ivy Victory

“I told [Curry] this weekend, ‘You just have to be aggressive,’” Wright said. “Teams aren’t expecting him to drive the ball and have the scorer’s mentality that he had in that second half especially. He played tremendous. I’m proud of him.”

Wright finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, and one rejection, tying him with Brian Cusworth ’07 for the Crimson blocks record and helping Harvard outscore Yale, 20-2, in the paint in the first half.

Mangano, the Ivy League’s leading scorer coming in, led Yale with 22 and 11, but the Crimson held guard Austin Morgan—who averaged 19 points against Harvard last season—to just one made field goal for the second straight matchup against Harvard.

“We feel that when [Morgan] has a good night, they’re very successful as a team,” Curry said. “So our emphasis was really to limit his touches and make everything difficult for him.”

The victory tied last year’s squad for the program record in wins and put the Crimson in position to clinch at least a share of its second consecutive Ivy title if it can take care of business at home—where it has won 27 straight—next weekend.

“We’re just one step closer to our goal,” Wright said.
