NOTEBOOK: Harvard Makes It Five in a Row

Donahue was not surprised by Amaker’s decision to go small.

“That’s who I would have started against us,” Donahue said. “They’re the five best players in my opinion.”

THE RETURN OF THE NESTY

When the Crimson took the court at Conte Forum on Tuesday the squad met a familiar face.

After suiting up with the Crimson for three seasons, former Harvard forward Andrew van Nest ’12 is now playing out his final year of NCAA eligibility with the Eagles.

Van Nest, who is currently pursuing a graduate degree, has seen action in each of Boston College’s eight contests, averaging 5.7 points per game off the bench.

On Tuesday, van Nest posted four points on one-of-two shooting in nine minutes off the bench. After his first shot attempt was blocked, van Nest found the bottom of the net with 6:51 to play in the second half, finishing an and-one layup off a pick-and-roll. After knocking down the free throw, van Nest subbed out and did not return.

After the final buzzer, van Nest exchanged hugs with the Crimson players and coaching staff.

“I just spoke to him really quickly as the game concluded, but I’m very, very proud of what he’s been able to accomplish,” Amaker said.
