HUPD Police Log

May 13:

12:53 a.m.—Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) received a call from a complainant claiming that his or her credit card number had been stolen and was being used fraudulently from a computer with a Harvard campus IP address. A loss of $180 was sustained. It is still unknown whether the thief is a Harvard affiliate or someone simply using a University computer.

1:10 a.m.—Officers reported to 10 DeWolfe Street on account of a report regarding a crowd of people running down the halls throwing bottles around. The responding officers found the rowdy bunch—who were found hurling tennis balls around—and instructed them to stop.

May 14:

1:22 a.m.—Officers were sent to Weld Hall in response to an alleged fight still in progress. Upon discovering the quarreling parties, responding officers pursued one who had fled on foot but was captured a short distance away. The building sustained minor property damage as a result of the altercation. A report was filed and both parties were allowed to go their separate ways.

3:42 p.m.—An officer was dispatched to the Spangler Building in Allston because a bullet had been found in the building. The officer recovered the bullet and filed a report.

May 15:

12:30 a.m.—Officers responded to Canaday Hall because of a report concerning a pile of newspapers which had possibly caught on fire. The officers searched the area but could not locate the allegedly burning media.

3:26 a.m.—An officer was sent to 83 Mount Auburn St. in response to an assault that allegedly occurred while the victim was attempting to stop a person from assaulting others. A search for the sparring group proved unsuccessful.

7:21 a.m.—An officer reported to 16 Divinity Ave. because someone had allegedly attempted to gain entry into several buildings. After speaking to the wandering individual, the officers transported the individual to the hospital for an evaluation. Complaints will be sought against this person.

May 16:

4:12 p.m.—An officer was sent to Harvard Yard to take note of blue paint that had been smeared onto the John Harvard Statue.

7:32 p.m.—An officer was dispatched to Peabody Terrace to investigate the theft of a black baby stroller, black sleeping bag and a Talbot jean jacket, amounting to a total of $2090 in losses.

9:49 p.m.—HUPD officers responded to Holyoke Center on account of two people allegedly smoking marijuana on a bench in public. The two smokers were reported to have left before the arrival of the police and could subsequently not be found.

May 17:

7:30 a.m.—An individual allegedly spewing racial remarks at passers-by led police to Au Bon Pain. The individual had fled by the time the police had arrived.
