UC Debates Considering Summers Bill

This jump prompted Glazer to ask representatives to show candor at all times.

“Please don’t be embarrassed by any of your votes. That’s not the point of roll-call,” Glazer said, referring to the fact that during a roll-call vote, a representative’s vote is linked to his name—unlike in the hand-count method usually used—and constituents can see on the UC website how their representative voted.

“A roll call and the regular vote should be more or less the same because representatives should be standing by how they vote,” Glazer added.

Also at yesterday’s meeting, representatives voted unanimously to create a standing committee of students to Harvard University Dining Services.

There have been two precedents to this committee; both were eventually disbanded.

SAC chair Aaron D. Chadbourne ’06 said that forming this committee would be a “great step” for the UC in improving student life.

Glazer also announced the 12 members of the UC’s newly-formed Reform Commission, which will investigate possible structural changes to the UC, first suggested by former President Matthew W. Mahan ’05 last month. Chair of the Election Commission Jon D. Einkauf ’06 will be the chair of the Commission, whose membership is divided evenly between UC and non-UC representatives.
