4:18 p.m.—Officers were sent to Holden Green at 10 Holden St. on reports of two “suspicious” people in a vehicle approaching apartments with plastic bags in hand. The officers determined the two people were passing out phone books for Verizon.

7:58 p.m.—HUPD officers were dispatched to The Harvard Lampoon, a semi-secret Sorrento Square social organization that used to occasionally publish a so-called humor magazine, to assist Cambridge Police Department (CPD) and the Fire Department track down smoke that had reportedly been emanating from the roof. Upon investigation, no smoke was found.

Jan. 13:

6:59 a.m.—Officers were sent to the Business School Lot on a report of a person “impatient” to park who struck the parking gate arm, causing damage to it. Upon finding the gate could not be opened, the driver backed up and entered over the grass area, causing damage to the landscape. The person left the area on foot, stating he/she was late and could not be found by police later.

3:00 p.m.—Officer dispatched to the Business School Lot to investigate a tire that had been slashed. This is the fourth time the victim’s tire has been slashed.

Jan. 14:

3:23 p.m.—Officers were sent to 14 Story St. on a report of an unwanted guest in a bathroom. Officer located the person and determined the man had been given two prior trespass warnings. Eugene Bermudez, 39, was arrested and allegedly attempted to escape HUPD while being booked, assaulting a police officer in the process. Bermudez is charged with trespassing, assault and battery of a police officer, falsifying information to an officer, and resisting arrest.

Jan. 15:

12:01 a.m.—An HUPD officer stood by as a “large” group of people gathered in front of the John Harvard Statue.

1:06 a.m.—A person walked into HUPD to report a past sexual assault committed by a “known party.”

Jan. 16:

2:57 a.m.—Officers dispatched to a report of eight to 10 people arguing on 32 Plympton St. The officers broke up the group upon arrival.
