Student Orators Compete For Prize

Other finalists included Simon E. Chin ’05, Roxanna K. Myhrum ’05, T. Josiah M. Pertz ’04, Joseph L. DiMento ’05 and Frederick K. O. Bengtsson ’04.

Echoing the judges’ enthusiasm, Shawn P. Doyle, staff assistant in the English department, said that all students had radically improved their acts overnight.

“To the person, I’m really amazed with the difference between yesterday and today,” he said referring to the first round which took place Wednesday night. “I think that deserves another round of applause.”

The Boylston Prize for Elocution was founded in 1817 by Ward Nicholas Boylston. The contest is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in good academic standing.
