M. Hockey Freshmen Stopped Playing Like It In Time For Playoffs

Rattling off four shots, Maki not only capitalized on the space left open for him, but aggressively slashed through the Black Bears’ blue liners, looking to notch another tally.

After Du earned a power play with his feisty forecheck behind the Maine net, Maki saw to it that his desire would be sated.

Fighting off a pair of defenders, Maki blasted a shot that ricocheted off Howard’s pads directly onto his stick for a second chance.

“I was a little nervous on that first one,” Maki said. “I tried to put it through him, [but] the second time I was able to put it home.”

But it was only through a fortuitous break that Maki was even in a position to bang home his fourth of the year.

“I shouldn’t have even been on the ice—there were six men on the ice,” Maki said, “but whatever.”

Nope, they’re not rookies any more.
