Young Guns Look To Make Early Impact

BRAD UNGER

Though there may not be as many immediate expectations for Brad Unger as there are for Klunick, he too boasts a rather impressive résumé. In his senior year, Unger tied for Most Outstanding Basketball Player in Berks County, Pa. and is also one of the all time scorers in the area.

“Brad is a skilled front court player,” Sullivan says. “He’s a good passer, he sees the court pretty well and he’s got a scoring knack. I think he’s got a real good future here.”

Unger mentions that he too has had difficulties transitioning to the collegeiate level.

“When I was in high school I was always the biggest and strongest guy out on the court,” Unger admits. “Now I get here, and I’m like the smallest.”

“Brad can play tough under the basket as well as go out and hit the three point shot,” says Frederick Endy, the athletic director for Unger’s alma mater, Boyertown Area High School. “He can also handle the ball very well.”

JAMES LAMBERT

Lambert, who starred at Marina High School in Huntington Beach, Calif., seems best described in hyphenated form.

“[Lambert is] an athletic, catch-and-shoot, put-the-ball-on-the-floor kind of guy,” Sullivan says.

Like the other two freshmen, Lambert mentioned that he is still trying to figure out his niche on the team, but has been working hard to ensure that Harvard avoids last year’s abysmal record.

“No one wants to go through what they went through last year,” Lambert says. “We definitely have to work to earn a spot on the team...It’s kind of nice. It’s been awhile since we’ve had to do that.”

And as Sullivan mentioned, the only way to ensure that this season is not a repeat of last year’s is if everyone is competing for a starting position—freshmen included.
