Lawyers Lay Out Defense Case

Judge Regina Quinlan postponed a decision on a defense motion to dismiss the case, and will rule on it today. She is expected to deny the motion.

Court adjourned early Friday after a defense witness—reported by Court TV to be Anthony Lewis, who was with Samuel Rodriguez just hours before the stabbing—pleaded the fifth and refused to testify.

Lewis, who is in police custody for an unrelated incident, was wheeled into court in a wheelchair wearing an orange prison jumpsuit. Quinlan is expected to rule on Monday whether to admit Lewis’ testimony in the form of a sealed affidavit he gave to the defense attorneys.

The District Attorney’s office did not return requests for comment yesterday.

Pring-Wilson, a native of Colorado, was in his final year of a graduate program at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at the time of the murder.

Colono, the father of a three-year-old daughter, was a life-long Cambridge resident.

The trial is expected to last another week.
