Rosenthal believes that hand sanitizers were effective last year in reducing the spread of disease.
“We saw less sore throats, less common colds because of alcohol-based gels,” he said.
The Center for Wellness and Health Communication has also prepared “cold packs” containing heath information and hand sanitizers.
Rosenthal said students should check the UHS website frequently for updates on vaccine availability for low risk patients. Once UHS vaccinates a large percentage of high-risk individuals, the vaccine may be available for the entire Harvard community.
Kristen J. Lynch ’07 said she is not worried about the shortage.
“Physicians will do what’s necessary to make sure the people who most need it will get it,” Lynch said.
