The Crimson rebounded slightly from the disappointing west coast trip with a 2-2 tie at Cornell followed by victories over Holy Cross and Yale that left Harvard 8-3-1 and in the Ivy-title hunt with a 2-0-1 league record entering its final four games and the heart of its league schedule.
The Crimson lost control of its own destiny with a 1-0 loss to Princeton on a 80th minute goal with Ara, Lobach and sophomore Jason Anderson missing from the lineup due to injury, and Harvard’s season went into a disappointing tailspin.
Despite the disheartening final few weeks, Ara, Lobach, Fritz and senior Joe Steffa were recognized individually for excellent seasons with All-Ivy honors. Ara was a first team All-Ivy selection and led the Crimson in scoring with nine goals and two assists, while Fritz was a second-team member and not far behind Ara with eight goals and an assist. Steffa was an honorable mention with two goals and two assists, as was Lobach. Steffa had a goal and an assist in Harvard’s season-ending victory over Penn.

Highlights Harvard pulled off a 2-1 upset of then-No. 19 Penn, but it was to no avail as the Crimson was already eliminated from Ivy title contention and NCAA consideration. All-American Kevin Ara also received a selection to the first team All-Ivy while Ladd Fritz made the second team All-Ivy. Joe Steffa and Mike Lobach received honorable mention accolades.
