“So many of the reps just really found a way to speak the language that was meaningful to residents of a particular House in a way that constantly walked the line between being an advocate of environmentally responsible behavior and being a pain in the neck,” Gogan said. “They got their fellow students to really make big improvements.”
Gogan said key REP workers at the Houses would be awarded prizes—though he wouldn’t say what—for their efforts.
With the Recycle Mania contest behind them, Gould said REP is preparing for a display this Sunday at Springfest, when Harvard environmental groups will commemorate Earth Day.
The Environmental Action Committee will hand out Nalgene bottles as usual, and REP will distribute free bandanas and will show a model of an ideal, resource-efficient dorm room.
Today, Earth Day will be celebrated around the world.
