Monteiro said that if Byrd is unable to remove the $17 worth of signs, then the election commission will either tell him to cease all campaigning activity or vote to disqualify him.
But Monteiro added that he does not anticipate that the commission will have to take any further action.
Despite the fact the Byrd now has to run a no-cost campaign, he said that he holds no hard feelings towards Hudson.
“[Hudson] didn’t know it was against the rules,” Byrd said. “I’m not mad at all. I thought it was a fun deal. But I would never have told Trent to do it.”
Monteiro said that the election commission is ready for voting to begin tomorrow.
“I think we’re quite well prepared for tomorrow. We’ve been in continual communication with computer services,” he said.
