Harvard students just aren’t having enough fun.

That was the consensus at last night’s Undergraduate Council meeting, during which members voted to host a free sneak preview of Scary Movie 3 and sponsor tailgates at four home football games.

“There are not enough social options here,” said council Vice President Jessica R. Stannard-Friel ’04. “[Students] don’t have anywhere to go.”

The council will spend about $2,000 on tailgates for games on Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1 and Nov. 15.

The H-Club, an athletic booster group, will also help sponsor the tailgates, which will be organized in conjunction with various House Committees.

“Tailgates foster school spirit and social life and are totally not exclusive,” Stannard-Friel said.

Council member Jack P. McCambridge ’06 worked to organize the sneak preview of Scary Movie 3, which will be held on Oct. 22 free of charge for about 220 students in Loews Harvard Square.

“There are not enough events like this,” McCambridge said.

“Compared to other schools, our school spirit is nothing is write home about,” said council member Divya A. Mani ’05, also a Crimson editor, who headed the tailgate project.

“Such events need to be sponsored by the UC and the campus as a whole,” Mani said, adding that students are need a “social outlet.”

The Council also voted to approve representatives that the Student Affairs Committee (SAC) elected for the various student-faculty committees.

Student-faculty committees are “the most important thing that the Student Affairs Committee, even the council, does,” said SAC chair Matt W. Mahan ’05.

Mahan worked with Sheila R. Adams ’05 to interview more than 200 applicants.

“The committees are the only opportunity for students to sit and talk to faculty members ‘face to face’ about their ideas and concerns,” Mahan said.

The committee assignments stand as follows:
