Seven of the professors going on leave next year study American history.
The departures will impact not only history concentrators, but also students pursuing degrees in history and literature.
Stephen H. Biel, director of studies of history and literature, was unaware of the departing professors until The Crimson informed him.
“We are dependent on the history department for their course offerings for our concentrators,” Biel said. “We may be in trouble.”
He said seniors may not be able to meet specific history requirements and planning for sophomores and juniors could be more difficult.
