Winthrop House also held meetings and counseling sessions Saturday and Sunday afternoons for grieving students.
Smith’s father, Lars Christian Smith ’70, arrived Saturday night from France, where the family now lives, and met with several of Smith’s friends, as well as House officials, yesterday.
In the Winthrop dining hall over the weekend, students recorded their memories of Smith in a book that will be presented to her family at a memorial service Wednesday.
Details of the memorial, including time and location, will likely be announced today by Winthrop House Co-Master Paul D. Hanson.
House Committee Chair Jennifer E. Kavanagh ’03 praised the House’s support system.
“The House masters and senior tutor have been amazing at letting us know the resources available,” Kavanagh said.
Since Friday, the Hansons and Senior Tutor Courtney B. Lamberth have had an open door policy, inviting students to come to their residences at any hour.
