Students Finally Receive Regular Pay

Some employees still frustrated by payroll errors

But even though they are receiving regular weekly checks, some students say they are frustrated by the system’s continued imperfections.

Andrew G. Bosworth ’04, a student teaching fellow for Computer Science 50, “Introduction to Computer Science I” says he is still owed a portion of the $1,200 he has earned this semester.

“They still haven’t paid me for my second month…and in addition to that, they’re paying me the wrong salary,” said Bosworth, who said his weekly checks are calculated at too low a wage. “The problem is I don’t know where the problem is...Everyone says it’s not their problem.”

But Elizabeth J. Quinn ’04, who has a work-study job at Boston Medical Center, said she was surprised and pleased to receive a paycheck in her mailbox Friday—for the right amount.

“It actually worked this time—it was a regular paycheck,” she said. “This is the first one where it’s been on time and completely correct.”

Quinn won’t let the money burn a hole in her pocket any time soon.

“I’m saving it for books for next semester,” she said. “I’m actually doing very little that involves spending money right now.”
