Sports was a cycle they had to follow; they could never take a break from the games or the athletes or the endless stories they had to crank out in order to keep bread on the table and their sportscars paid for.
Sportswriting had become just a job.

I hold out hope that I could be a sportswriter while preserving my youthful enthusiasm for the games I love.
I may still write sports for a living sometime. But I will switch to something new before it becomes just a job.
