Radcliffe's high hopes of ending its four-race losing streak were dashed on Saturday when B.U. emerged victorious in yet another loss for the Black and White.
B.U. captured the DeWolfe-Allen Cup with a winning time of 6:39.7 over Radcliffe's 6:42.0 and M.I.T.'s 7:16.1.
Radcliffe (5-5) was ranked fifth over No. 6 B.U. and No. 18 M.I.T. in recent Eastern polls.
"It was one of our better rows,"said freshman stroke-seat Caryn Davies. "There was more fight than in the Yale race."
Despite Radcliffe's early one-length advantage by the 800-meter mark, the Terriers took back a few seats in the middle of the race on the way to victory.
"There was a lull just before the sprint and [B.U.] moved on it," Davies said.
The loss breaks up Radcliffe's six-race winning streak over B.U. in the cup series, including last year's race in which Radcliffe pulled a time of 6:17.5 to set a Charles River record.
Radcliffe will spend the week preparing for its trip to Camden, New Jersey for Eastern Sprints next weekend.
