Winter's Double-Double Puts Stony Brook in Trouble

But Harvard’s size inside made up for the shooting mistakes.

Coleman, Winter and backup center Brian Sigafoos, along with guard Brady Merchant, swarmed the offensive glass. The Crimson finished with 23 offensive rebounds, and a 48-38 overall rebounding advantage.

More importantly, Munir was held in check until the closing seconds by captain Drew Gellert, and junior guard Pat Harvey chipped in 12 second-half points.

Stony Brook was paced by Konopka, who finished with 22 points.

In the end, Harvard finished with four players in double figures, though Prasse-Freeman’s four first-half three-pointers would be the only long-range shots the Crimson could convert.

Winter’s first double-double of his career, which included eight offensive boards, provided a lift for a team currently limited in its front-court presence with Sigafoos nursing a sore foot and only one freshman forward.

“It’s getting to where I’m more comfortable starting now,” Winter, who backed-up Dan Clemente ’01 last season, said. “You just have to maintain your energy a bit more.”

The Crimson, which faces a tough Boston University team on Tuesday night, are glad to know they can get production from all five starters now.
