“We had a lot of great looks and we had a lot of treouble dropping them down, I thought, both inside and outside,” said Kansas State Coach Deb Patterson. “The thing we talked to our team about was that we are going to have games and nights like that, and the key thing is that you are mature and you continue to work through it....”
The Wildcats shot only 39 percent for the game, and only 32 percent in the second half—their worst percentage of the season.
The Crimson did not shoot well either, sinking only 36 percent of its shots in the game.
There were some bright spots for the Crimson despite the loss.
Cserny continued to light up the score-board, leading all-scorers in the game with 20 points. She also added 10 rebounds to lead Harvard in that cateogry as well, giving her a second double-double in as many games.
“Reka drastically improved her game this weekend,” Peljto said. “She really stepped up for us, especially at the end of the game against Kansas State. Overall, both games were a good team effort.”
Despite her outstanding performance in the tournament, Cserny was not named to the All-tournament team. Tubridy was the sole Harvard player to receive the honor.
With Peljto healthy and returning to the line-up and Cserny and Tubridy finding their rhythm, the young Crimson team is showing promise for the rest of the season.
After finishing the tournament with a win and a loss, the Crimson remains at .500 (3-3) for the season.
Harvard next travels to Central Connecticut on Wednesday.
