Chris Trapper
Club Passim
November 18 at 6 p.m. amd 9 p.m.
On Nov. 18, Chris Trapper, the hair-flipping lead singer of Boston favorites the Push Stars, will perform sans band at Club Passim in Harvard Square. Wanting to play some of the band’s more mellow songs that venues such as Avalon do not encourage, Trapper kicked off his month-long solo tour in early November.
Leaving bandmates Dan McLoughlin (vocals, bass, piano) and Ryan MacMillan (vocals, drums) on vacation for the month, Trapper will rejoin the Push Stars in December to record their fourth full-length album, which they will promote during January and February.
Club Passim provides just the sort of intimate setting that will allow Trapper’s natural stage presence and gift for connecting with the audience to flourish. Trapper has a talent of making every person feel as if he is singing directly to her, and—with his startlingly beautiful eyes full of passion—it’s an awesome (in the Grand Canyon sense of the word) feeling. With the Passim seat farthest from the stage still in kiss-blowing range, every audience member will clearly hear Trapper’s phenomenal lyrics.
Opening for Trapper is Flynn, another Boston-based acoustic rocker. While some openers are noise to be avoided, this Irish troubadour alone is worth the full cost of the show’s ticket. As Flynn has said of himself in the past, “You’ll find yourself singing my songs in the shower.”
More information on Trapper’s solo tour and his band, the Push Stars, is available at www.pushstars.com. Information about Club Passim and a live internet broadcast of the concert can be found at www.clubpassim.org.
