But this is not the first time students have left Brain Break in disarray.
Over the course of this year and last, Pertile has received complaints from dining hall workers regarding trash and food left during Brain Break hours.
Many students were also quick to attest to the messy appearance of the dining hall during the service.
“Sometimes it really looked horrible,” M. Ingrid Christian ’03 said.
“Anything where students have control of the frosting,” James P. Duffy ’03 said.
HUDS supports Pertile’s decision, McNitt said.
“It is very demoralizing to walk into that,” she said.
Pertile said he will meet with the Eliot House Committee to discuss the incident and the possibility of reinstating Brain Break in the future.
He did not specify a timetable—leaving Eliot House students to head elsewhere, at least for now, to satisfy their midnight cravings.
