Drummond's departure comes somewhat late in the academic term, a fact that Nathans said means her office will not appoint a formal "Faculty/administrative" search committee to fill Drummond's post.
Instead, she said the FDO will "seek the counsel of veteran Board of Freshmen Advisers members" as it interviews candidates for the opening. Six undergraduates will also be invited to offer input.
Nathans said she hopes to begin interviewing candidates before the end of the month and would like to have Drummond's replacement assume his or her responsibilities soon after June 1.
She said ideal assistant dean candidates possess "significant prior experience in both residential and academic counseling,...hold a terminal degree in a field taught in Harvard College" and have college or university teaching experience.
