According to Holloway, the BGLTSA may stage another visibility campaign sometime later during the year, but the group just did not feel that this was the right time for more controversial posters.
"Every year this comes up as an issue," Holloway said. "I think it's important to have a dialogue with the community and be sensitive to the community. But it's important to express that not everyone in our organization has the same ideas."
Alexander A. Boni-Saenz '01, founder and former president of the campus gay social and support group Beyond Our Normal Differences (BOND), said yesterday that he liked the tone of this year's festivities, although he wished there was more publicity.
Other activities conducted during Coming Out Day included teas, dinners, socials, as well as film and television screenings at various locations around campus.
National Coming Out Day originated in 1988, in commemoration of the 1987 gay rights march on Washington.
