Fogg Receives Art Gift Valued At $20 Million

"This was a long, well thought-out process,"she added.

And after spending over forty years sharingtheir art with the University, Harvard seemed likethe logical place to give the works.

"Where else is there a better teachinginstitution that also has a museum that's used forteaching purposes?" Mrs. Abrams said.

She said they timed the gift in part tocoincide with the 25th anniversary of the datewhen Robinson first came to see their collection.

Robinson's curator post will now be known asthe Maida and George Abrams curator of drawings.

Mr. Abrams also serves on the VisitingCommittee and the Collections Committee of HarvardUniversity Art Museums, where he is chair of theSubcommittee for Drawings.

During his time at Harvard, he was ManagingEditor of The Crimson and was involved in theinfamous prank when Crimson editors stole theHarvard Lampoon's ibis and presented it to avisiting Soviet diplomat.

Today, he is a corporate lawyer and lives inthe Boston area.
