Field Hockey Improves and Impresses

While the loss of Collins and her fellow seniors will be difficult for the Crimson to overcome, a strong crop of underclassmen are ready to fill the gaps, led by next season's captains: Cowan, Schoolwerth, and Dominique Kalil.

In addition to returning a solid core of players, Harvard looks forward to playing on a new artificial turf field for the 1999 campaign. The field--which is one year behind schedule--is currently under construction behind the Palmer-Dixon tennis center. Next year Yale and Dartmouth will be the only Ivy League schools without turf.

"Turf gives the game much more speed," LaSovage said. "It will allow us to compete at the next level."

With a strong group of veterans and the new turf field, Harvard field hockey seems poised to break through to the next level of success.
