W. Tennis Leaves Virginia With Multiple Losses

"It was a pretty competitive match," Jain said. "I had some chances in the second set against a girl who won the Rolex [Invitational] last year. It was a better start than last year."

Jain went on to lose matches to players from Boston College and Texas.

Sophomore Sanaz Ghazal and junior Aparna Ravi rounded out the Crimson squad.

However, all in all the story of the tournament and the story for the rest of the fall will be the development of the freshman class.

"They had some very close, very competitive matches," said Jain. "[Being a freshman] is so hard, you just don't know what to expect. I am hoping for a big improvement in the next couple of weeks. We won the ECAC Team Championships last year and we have the potential to do it again. I know the freshman want it."

How much these new faces build on each tournament and each practice will go far in determining whether this is a team for the present or a team for the future.
