Jaguars Beat Chiefs in AFC Showdown; Aikman Hurt

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--With Mark Brunell and his two receivers misfiring, the Jacksonville Jaguars found another way to win--big kick returns and a punishing running game.

Reggie Barlow had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and Tavian Banks had a 65-yard kickoff return to set up another score yesterday as the Jaguars held off the Kansas City Chiefs for a 21-16 victory.

James Stewart finished with 103 yards on 26 carries to become the first back to record consecutive 100-yard games rushing for the Jaguars (2-0).

"It was important for every phase to be able to contribute and help out, especially when you're going against a team like that," Barlow said. "The special teams wanted to make a statement and we came out and improved and helped the team."

GREEN BAY, Wis.--Reggie White's farewell tour is starting out a lot like his grand entrance into the NFL 14 seasons ago.

The 36-year-old defensive end was in vintage from yesterday, getting three sacks and leading a pass rush that harassed Trent Dilfer all day as the Green Bay Packers beat Tampa Bay 23-15 for their 29th consecutive home victory.

Dilfer was sacked six times, losing the ball on three of them, as the Packers (2-0) put the Bucs (0-2) in an early hole in the NFC Central.

Broncos 42, Cowboys 23

DENVER--The Denver Broncos broke the Dallas Cowboys' spirit with an almost unstoppable offense.

After two long scoring runs by Terrell Davis and big pass plays from John Elway, the Broncos broke the Cowboys physically, sending quarterback Troy Aikman to the sidelines for four to eight weeks with a broken left collarbone.

Davis ran for 191 yards and three touchdowns as the Broncos beat the Cowboys 42-23 yesterday.

Elway threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns as Denver scored touchdowns on its first five possessions, taking a 35-17 lead at halftime.

Seahawks 33, Cardinals 14

SEATTLE--Seattle fans have fallen in love with Ricky Watters. They also love the Seahawks' defense.
