BSA Vice-President Dionne A. Fraser '99 expressed concern about candidates who would like to exclude political issues from council activities.
"They say they only want to deal with the quality of student life," she said. "But they don't understand that [political issues are] what matter to students."
Some other candidates agreed.
"They want to turn the U.C. into a glorified dance committee," Berger said.
Stuart D. Shapley '98, a presidential candidate, also attended the debate. Vice-presidential candidates Samuel C. Cohen '00, Lillian J. Epstein '99 and Andrew F. Ruggiero '99 were also present.
The only candidates absent from the event were presidential candidate God-frey L.C. Henderson '00 and vice-presidential candidate Alexander M. Carter '00.
