Even freshman back-up goaltender Oliver Jonas saw 20 minutes of action in relief of sophomore netminder J.R. Prestifilippo (15 saves), last season's ECAC Rookie of the Year.
"All the freshmen did a real nice job," Tomassoni said. "It was nice to see [Jonas] get a period and I thought he handled himself very well. He had a real presence in the goal which I think is good for the team. It gives us some more depth in that position."
Junior defenseman Matt Scorsune finished off the scoring when he ripped a bullet from the left point with just under 11 minutes to go in the game. That capped off a Crimson offensive performance which saw it generate not only five goals, but 48 shots on net and two power-play goals.
"A lot of it is just trying to get the nerves out and just get used to playing in game situations," McCarthy said. "Mostly it is simply just to get the game atmosphere, to get the competition going and to get the juices flowing."
Exhibition season has come to an end, however, and reality sets in on Friday when Harvard travels to Ithaca, N.Y., to take on defending ECAC champion Cornell. First Period Har--Storey (M. Moore, S.
